Medical Marijuana Certification

If you believe you have an approved serious medical condition, the doctor at the Allentown Women’s Center is an approved doctor who can issue your patient certification.

How it works

In order to obtain medical marijuana at Pennsylvania dispensaries, patients must show an ID card from the PA Department of Health.

ID cards can be issued to Pennsylvania residents who have a serious medical condition as certified by an approved physician.  The Allentown Women’s Center physician is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to certify patients who meet the indications for Medical Marijuana.

There are five steps to participate in the program:

1. Register on the state website: www.medicalmarijuana.pa.gov

2. Gather documentation of one of the “serious medical conditions” from your physician or therapist.

3. Have an appointment with the AWC physician (telephone consultations).

4. Pay for your medical marijuana ID card.

5. Visit a Pennsylvania dispensary with your medical marijuana ID card.

All patients and caregivers must have proof of Pennsylvania residency in the form of a Pennsylvania driver’s license or a Pennsylvania state-issued ID card with their current address. Patients and caregivers also must have a working email address.

Have your valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or state-issued ID (or change of address card if applicable) in front of you while registering as you will need to match the information exactly as it appears on the ID. Make sure that the information you are entering matches with PennDOT records if you have updated your address. Enter only the digits where numbers are required (no spaces, hyphens, etc.).

After your information is validated, you will be prompted to create a username and password. When you have created the username and password, you will see a screen that displays your account information including your Patient ID number. You are now registered in the state program. You will receive an email confirming your successful registration and detailing your next step, which is to obtain a patient certification from an approved practitioner.

Our doctor, who is approved by the Department of Health (department), can issue a patient certification. The certification confirms that you have one of the 23 serious medical conditions and that medical marijuana may benefit you. You need this certification to get your medical marijuana ID card.
