Trauma Survivors We Provide A SAFE, Affirming Space For Trauma Survivors

Allentown Women’s Center helps trauma survivors by using a model of trauma-informed care, which means that we understand, recognize, and respond to the effects of different types of trauma.

A safe, affirming space

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual abuse or violence, having a gynecological exam or an abortion may be difficult. Our goal is to provide you with a safe, affirming space where we can work together to plan the best approach for your visit.

When making your appointment, please feel free to let us know what your needs are for your visit (i.e. preferred positions, safe words, avoiding trigger words, clothing). If it is too difficult to discuss this over the phone, we are happy to identify and accommodate your needs once you are here.

AWC fully endorses the Survivors Bill of Rights.

Speak of your experience, without apology for your uncertainties.

During An Abortion Appointment for Trauma Survivors

A semi-private waiting area is available for you during your stay. AWC wants you to have all the time you need to feel informed and ready for the medical portion of your visit.

Additional counseling and/or referrals are available to every patient as part of their care. We welcome any other suggestions or ideas you have to make your visit a healing experience.
